Nicole Banville

I met Shawn Dawson, founder of Dream Mountains Foundation, a few years ago through my involvement with Dreams Take Flight Ottawa. DTF Ottawa provides a one-day trip of a lifetime to Disney's Magic Kingdom for physically, medically and socially challenged children in Canada's National Capital Region. I've been a volunteer of DTF Ottawa since 2001 when I took that first flight to Disney with them. Nothing can replace seeing the smile on a child's face and knowing that we did that for them!

Shawn knows my love for an active and healthy lifestyle as well as my dedication to giving back to charities and that's why we bonded. I was fortunate enough in April 2012 to raise money for SchoolBox and participate in a school build in Nicaragua. When Shawn approached me about climbing to Machu Picchu in 2013 while raising money for charity, I said where do I sign up!

I'm looking forward to achieving my $5,000 fundraising goal for DTF Ottawa, trekking almost 45 km in 4 days and conquering the altitude challenges I'll face being 2,430 meters above sea level! I strongly believe if everyone took the initiative to pay it forward the world would be a better place. Your help in achieving my fundraising goal is greatly appreciated.
