As a life-long resident of Ottawa and a graduate of Sir Robert Borden High school, I consider myself fortunate to be employed in an industry that I love which is challenging, rewarding and provides the opportunity to learn and grow as a business professional. Somewhere along the way I, also, developed an keen interest in sharing my good fortune with those in our community who may be less privileged.

One of the major benefits of having spent my entire career in the hospitality industry is the many wonderful people I have met in a range of endeavors. The most rewarding relationships that evolve are, understandably, those with our customers particularly when they return regularly. In several cases, I have had the opportunity to meet families and have watched happy, well cared for children grow up over many years. Sadly, this is not the case for many of the children in our area due to no fault of their own. I am, therefore, requesting your sponsorship support in my upcoming venture to Machu Piccu as part of Shawn Dawson’s Dream Mountains expedition. Your donation will go to The School Breakfast Program ensuring that children in need have access to a healthy breakfast in a safe and supervised environment which helps each child start their day ready to learn.

Your contribution to my efforts to raise $5,000.00 for this worthy cause is sincerely appreciated.

In the city of Ottawa approximately 11,000 children in 146 schools begin each school day with a nutritious meal provided by the School Breakfast Program. The program provides funding for equipment, program monitors and food. Two independent evaluations of the School Breakfast Program demonstrated that students who are fed a nutritious breakfast make significant improvements in learning, school attendance, behaviour and self-esteem.
