On a recent trip I was introduced to Shawn Dawson. I was so impressed by his enthusiasm and philanthropy that I accepted his invitation to do the Machu Picchu climb. The idea of incorporating a charity with this climb sounded wonderful and too good to pass up. The charity I will be raising funds for is Dreams Take Flight -- helping sick children realize their dreams. Having had a nephew who faced brain cancer I know how much he’d approve of me doing this. So I dedicate my fund raising and climb to Gordie. These kids face more in a lifetime than we would ever imagine ourselves capable of handling. If we can give them a memory they can cherish, we should! |
