I am so looking forward to my trek in the Andes with Shawn Dawson and the Dream Mountain Group. I have listened to stories of friends’ trips, and never expected to be able to see Machu Picchu myself until this opportunity arose! I expect Machu Picchu to be a photographer’s paradise and that I will be coming home with lots of pics!
It is also a privilege to raise money for one of the charities with Dream Mountain. The Ottawa School Breakfast Program is certainly next to my heart as a dietitian! 11,300 children in 148 schools in all 4 boards in the Ottawa area are given a chance to make significant improvements in learning, school attendance, behaviour and self esteem when they can start their days with a healthy, nutritious breakfast. The number has grown from 1000 children in 25 schools in 1990 when the program started. Now, over 2 million breakfasts are served every year by the Ottawa School Breakfast Program, where schools, volunteers, community organizations and businesses come together to make the nutritional needs of children and youth a priority.
My priorities in the next several months are raising $5000 for the Ottawa School Breakfast Program, continuing my training, and deciding what camera I will bring along on the trip! Please consider helping me support the Ottawa School Breakfast Program with a generous donation!
Your support is greatly appreciated. Thank you |

In the city of Ottawa approximately 11,000 children in 146 schools begin
each school day with a nutritious meal provided by the School Breakfast
Program. The program provides funding for equipment, program monitors
and food. Two independent evaluations of the School Breakfast Program
demonstrated that students who are fed a nutritious breakfast make
significant improvements in learning, school attendance, behaviour
and self-esteem.
